A Vision for Fitchburg
I am committed to seeing Fitchburg grow in a balanced and sustainable way. Fitchburg can continue to be a leader in the high tech and biomedical fields. On my watch, Fitchburg's government will be open and responsive. I will bring residents, business owners, and community leaders together. I will also fight to hold down the city's tax rate.
Fitchburg Public Library
The community survey and referendum results clearly indicate that a large number of residents support building and furnishing a library now. Throughout the history of our country, public libraries have been seen as a crucial element of a free and democratic society. We have a fantastic opportunity to develop a public-private partnership to create a library in which all residents can be proud. Many residents, business owners, and community leaders are ready to work together in making this a reality. As mayor, I will continue to seek community involvement and input during the design process. The public will stay informed.
Accessible City Government
Fitchburg city government should be accessible to people at all times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents should be able to download and view council packets and other documents before meetings are held. Technologies used by the city of Madison, the state legislature, the U.S. congress, and other governments currently provide citizens with increasing amounts of information so that people can stay informed and involved. The city’s website should also allow for online applications for permits and licenses, streaming video of council and other meetings, filing complaints, crime statistics, property values, and neighborhood details.
